Shakhtar’s forward’s team failed to maintain a two-goal advantage and tied with Sierra Leone
Shakhtar forward Lassina Traore distinguished himself in the national team’s home match Burkina Faso with Sierra Leone (2:2) in qualifying World Cup 2026.
The forward was in the starting lineup and scored a penalty at the end of the first half. He was later replaced by Mohamed Konate in the 69th minute.
Traore’s goal was the second for the home team, earlier Dango Ouattara opened the scoring. The Burkina Faso team did not maintain a two-goal advantage – in the second half, Sierra Leone snatched a draw thanks to goals from Augustus Kargbo and Amadou Bakayoko.
Traore scored in his second match in a row for the national team. Earlier, the Shakhtar forward scored in the match with Egypt (1:2). In total, the striker has nine goals in 20 matches for the national team.
Burkina Faso ranks third in Group A of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. The next qualifying match for the African team is scheduled for March 2025.
