“Football is a bigger and more energetic story than figure skating” – Domnina, Olympic medalist

Oksana Domnine Olympic medalist in ice dancing and wife of an Olympic champion Romana Kostomarova talked about how their lives had changed and compared figure skating and football.

In January 2023, Kostomarov was hospitalized with pneumonia. Due to complications, both feet and both hands were amputated. The figure skater is back on the ice, performing in the show using prosthetics.

– Indeed, we go to football more often now – after Roman became an ambassador for the charity program. It’s a new stage in our life.

— How has your life changed?

– Of course, it has become different, but we try to equalize our rhythm of life and bring it as close as possible to what we had. There are difficult situations in every person’s life, but the way Roman overcomes them, and the fact that he is an Olympic champion, inspires many people. And we often hear: “Why are we sitting on the couch, because Roman is holding on, fighting and moving forward. »

– How is it ?

“He hasn’t done anything in a year.” He skates, snowboards, plays football and soon, it seems to me, he will run. And a documentary was made. The novel leads an active life and shows that, despite all the difficulties, one can live and fight.

— Do you sympathize with anyone in our football?

— To be honest, before our new life, we didn’t delve too much into football. If you ask me this question a year from now, I will answer you honestly.

— Can you compare football fans and figure skating fans?

— There are not as many fans in figure skating as in football, but they always show sympathy and give gifts. Football remains a bigger, more energetic story than figure skating. How many times have we come to football and always received an incredible charge of energy,” Domnina said, as quoted by RB Sport.
