Double Olympic athletics champion Svetlana Masterkova will be released from the hospital, said the first vice-president of the All-Russian Athletics Federation, Irina Privalova.
On Tuesday, the Mash Telegram channel reported that Masterkova was hospitalized in Moscow in moderate condition. The former athlete was admitted to the neurosurgery department.
— The athlete was suspected of having suffered a stroke. Doctors carried out an examination, but the fears were not confirmed: tomorrow Masterkova will be discharged from the medical institution, Privalova said according to RT.
Masterkova is a double Olympic champion in Atlanta. In 1996, she won the 800 meters and the 1,500 meters. Masterkova also won the 1999 World Championships in Seville, ahead of everyone over 1,500 meters, as well as the 1998 European Championships over the same distance.
