Villarreal, West Ham and Nottingham Forest are bidding for ex-Shakhtar defender Vitao

Foresters are ahead of the competition in the fight for the Internacional player

Three clubs from top championships are competing for a defender Internacional Vitao. It’s about Villarreal, West Ham and recently joined this race Nottingham Forest.

It is the Foresters who are the favorites in this confrontation. According to reports, Forest have made the best offer to the Brazilian club and have also offered the 24-year-old defender a higher salary.

It is reported that Internacional, which owns 80% of the rights to Vitao, expects to receive at least 12 million euros for his transfer. Earlier, in May, the club rejected Betis’ 9 million offer for the defender.

Nottingham are believed to be willing to pay the asking price, but the move could also be linked to the likely sale of Foresters defender Murillo, who is being monitored by Barcelona and PSG.

Let us remember that in March it became known that Internacional would sign a five-year contract with Vitao. Previously, Shakhtar offered the Brazilian club to buy out the defender’s contract for 10 million euros. Instead, Internacional extended Vitao’s lease until the summer of 2024 – by which time the defender’s agreement with the Donetsk club had just expired.

Vitao became a Shakhtar player in the summer of 2019, having transferred from Palmeiras. He has been playing for his current club since April 2022. In 2024, the central defender played 20 matches in various tournaments and scored one goal.

Internacional is in ninth place in the 2024 Brazilian Championship after seven rounds, but has two games in hand.

Villarreal finished eighth in the Spanish Primera Division last season. West Ham and Nottingham finished 9th and 17th respectively in the English Premier League.
