Triple Olympic synchronized swimming champion Svetlana Kolesnichenko On , she spoke about the difficulties she faced while appearing in the BRICS Games soloists’ technical program.
On Thursday, Kolesnichenko brought the Russian team its first medal at the BRICS Games, with 313.69 points in the technical program. The second was Belarusian Vasilina Khondoshko (296.4750), the third was the representative of Uzbekistan Diana Onkes (229.9334).
— This is the first time for me: now the most difficult for me was the technical solo. A lot of time [под водой], and my gills are already growing slowly. I can barely breathe.
— Is there any hope that the rules will change?
– Hard to say. I have nothing to do with it. I am an athlete who fulfills the task set by management. And if these are the current realities, then we must survive them. I don’t know if there will be a collective letter. I know that letters have already been written to the international federation; this was done by athletes who were not part of our team. There was an open letter, but for the moment no one will change the rules before the Olympics, we will see. People understand that not everything goes as well as they would like. We do what we are told,” Kolesnichenko said on .
The BRICS Games will take place from June 12 to 23 in the capital of Tatarstan.
The competition will be broadcast on the channels of the Match sub-holding, as well as on streaming platforms.
