Russian weightlifter Zulfat Garayev became the winner of the BRICS Games in the weight category up to 73 kg.
The athlete showed a result of 336 kg. In the snatch he lifted a weight of 156 kg, setting a Russian record, and in the clean and jerk – 180 kg.
The previous feat in the snatch in the weight category up to 73 kg also belonged to Garayev; in January, at the Russian Cup in Tula, he showed a result of 154 kg.
Another Russian Sergei Petrov (332 kg) became the silver medalist, Belarusian Vadim Likhorad (326 kg) closed the leading trio.
Russians Oleg Musohranov (260 kg) and Elkan Gvazava (258 kg) won silver and bronze respectively. Russian Olga Tyo (212 kg) won a silver medal in the under 59 kg category.
The BRICS Games will take place from June 12 to 23 in Kazan.
