Athletistic/Figure skating. Honored Coach of the USSR Tatiana Tarasova reacted to the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) to reduce the number of jumps in the free program of individual figure skating. From the 2026/27 season, single skaters, girls and men, will be able to perform not 7, but only 6 jumps in the free program.

“Can’t judges count to seven?!” I think this decision is wrong, although it will cause everyone to learn quadruple jumps to get more points. I don’t think the judges don’t know how to count to seven, which is why they shorten the free skates to six jumps. Our girls need to learn more quadruple jumps so as not to even think about these cuts, ”Tarasova said in an interview with a Sport24 correspondent.
