Synchronized swimmers Svetlana Kolesnichenko And Maya Doroshko said that they and their coaches were completely satisfied with their performance at the BRICS Games.
Kolesnichenko and Doroshko won the duet free program at the synchronized swimming competition at the BRICS Games in Kazan. The athletes scored 310.9737 points in the free skate. On Thursday, Kolesnichenko and Doroshko became winners of the technical program at a tournament in the capital of Tatarstan. Kolesnichenko also has gold in the solo technical program.
— Are you satisfied with the performance and the points you scored?
Doroshko: I think we did very well. The international start went well, the coaches are happy, which is also important. Now time for a little well-deserved rest.
Kolesnichenko: Naturally, we will review our performance at the BRICS Games. The coaches are extremely happy with our results, which means we are happy too. The grades are good, we are growing and moving forward. So give us a little rest and with renewed vigor we will go into battle (laughs).
— First of all, are you satisfied not with the first place, but with the points you scored?
Kolesnichenko: The athlete has a very difficult preparation period. Usually no one sees it and sometimes they give up. At the same time, we are moving forward. First of all, we are happy that we overcame a difficult path and achieved the best result in the end, which gives us the most pleasure.
Doroshko: The main thing is that we did everything, we didn’t have bad situations when someone got lost. Today, with the new rules, it is obviously difficult. We must guard our conscience. We achieved it and we are satisfied with it.
— Is this the first competition with new rules?
Doroshko: At the end of 2023 we had the Federation Cup, it was a bit international, although there were not as many countries as in the BRICS Games. It’s the first international competition this season, it’s great and enjoyable.
— Do you remember when before the BRICS Games you last heard the Russian anthem?
Kolesnichenko: At the Fed Cup. And so to the European Championships in 2021,” reports the correspondent the athletes’ words.
The competition will take place from June 12 to 23 in the capital of Tatarstan.
The competition will be broadcast on the channels of the Match sub-holding, as well as on streaming platforms.
