The Parisians most likely paid about $20 million for 25-year-old Safonov
Paris Saint-Germain officially announced the conclusion of a contract with the 25-year-old Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov.
A representative of the aggressor country moved to a top club from Krasnodar. According to reports, the Parisians paid the Russian club 20 million euros for this transfer.
Safonov once played football at a decent level. In the 2020/21 season, the young goalkeeper performed well in the Champions League – in matches with Rennes (twice), Chelsea and Sevilla. In total, he has 17 matches (of which only two were clean sheets) and 30 goals conceded in European competition.
In 2021, Matvey played two out of three matches for the Russian national team at the European Championship.
Safonov will become the second Russian in the French Ligue 1. His compatriot Alexander Golovin has been playing for Monaco for a long time, since 2019.
At the end of last season, PSG easily won the French championship, added a victory in the National Cup, and also stopped one step short of the Champions League final.
