“When it comes to jumping, there is a simplification. Zagitova had seven jumps in the second half. It was really cool” – Leonova on ISU innovations

Alena Leonova, silver medalist at the 2012 World Women’s Single Skating Championships, told that after the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU), figure skaters’ programs will become simpler in terms of attendance of jump elements.

Previously, the ISU Congress approved a reduction in the number of jumps in single skating from seven to six in free skating; the decision will come into force during the 2026/27 season;

— When it comes to jumping, there is a simplification, in my opinion. Previously, in the second half, you could do seven jumps, which I remember doing Alina Zagitova . It was very cool. Then they seemed to balance it out, they allowed four jumpers in the second half, then they reduced it to three, now there are only six,” Leonova told .
