Vladimir Nikitin won gold in the 5,000 meters at the BRICS Games

Russian track and field athlete Vladimir Nikitin became the winner of the BRICS Games in the 5000 meters.

Nikitin showed a result of 13 minutes 20.6 seconds. The second was another Russian, Anatoly Rybakov (13:33.62), the third was the Eritrean Teklemariam Debesai Desale (13:52.18).

The best in the 400 meters was the Russian Savely Savlukov (45.52). Chinese Liang Boatan won silver (45.65), the bronze medalist was the representative of Russia Alexander Masyutenko (45.71). In the 1,500 meter race, the Russians failed to finish in the top three; Belarusian Vyacheslav Skudny won (3:45.86).

Violetta Skvortsova of Belarus won the women’s triple jump (14.41m). In the fight for gold, she was ahead of Russians Daria Nidbaikina (14.22) and World Championship medalist Ekaterina Koneva (14.13).

The BRICS Games will take place in Kazan from June 12 to 23.
