The first match ended in a mass brawl
Former world champion in five weight categories Floyd Mayweather announced his next fight. The 47-year-old legendary boxer will hold his second exhibition fight against John Gotti IIIgrandson of the late boss of the famous Gambino mafia family John Gotti.
The Mayweather-Gotti III rematch is scheduled for August 24 in Mexico City. The fight will be broadcast via PPV on DAZN.
Let us remember that in June 2023, the fight between Mayweather and Gotti in Sunrise (Florida) ended in a mass brawl. The referee stopped the match in the sixth round. After the fight was stopped, Gotti began punching Mayweather. Representatives of both boxers took part in the fight and ran into the ring.
As a result of the scandalous event, John Gotti III received a six-month disqualification, while his opponent avoided sanctions.
Mayweather planned to re-fight Gotti in February 2024 on Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas, but the fight was not officially confirmed.
Mayweather has fought seven exhibition fights since retiring as a professional in 2017. Gotti III previously competed in MMA. His professional record is 5-1. In October 2022, John made his boxing debut.
