Petkov’s team lost their last opportunity to qualify for the Nations League qualifying tournament
Ukrainian women’s volleyball team did not qualify for Candidates’ Cup 2024, qualifying tournament for League of Nations.
Ukraine, despite not reaching the Final Four of the Golden Euroleague, retained a chance to get a ticket to the 2024 Candidates’ Cup. The blue-and-yellows could qualify for the qualifying tournament as the highest-rated team among those not yet participating in the Nations League.
To do this, the Ukrainian team needed Belgium and the Czech Republic, which are located higher in the world rankings, to reach the final of the Golden Euroleague.
However, the Belgians lost to Sweden today in the semi-finals of the Euroleague Golden (2:3). Thus, Ukraine lost its last opportunity to qualify for the 2024 Candidates’ Cup.
Let us remind you that the Ukrainian women’s team played in the Candidates’ Cup only once. In 2023, Ivan Petkov’s team took fourth place.
The Ukrainian men’s team guaranteed itself participation in the 2024 Candidates’ Cup. Today, Raul Lozano’s team will play with the Czech Republic in the semifinals of the Euroleague Golden.
