High jumper Lysenko on Russians’ admission to the Olympics: “Other sports don’t concern me”

Silver medalist at the World High Jump Championships Danil Lysenko told that he feels nothing when Russian athletes representing other sports are admitted to the 2024 Olympic Games.

On Saturday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) published on its website a list of 14 Russian athletes who, as of June 15, had received neutral status to participate in the Paris Games. Lysenko won the BRICS Games in Kazan on June 15.

— Maybe I will watch “altitude” at the Olympic Games, I will be interested in what the guys will show there.

— Which position would you fight for in Paris if you had the chance?

“I would fight for a medal.”

— How do you feel when you learn that other Russian athletes are getting neutral status?

— I don’t feel anything, other sports don’t concern me. If one of our athletes went (to the Games), but I didn’t, I would ask, ‘What is this?’ What is that?” (Laughs) And here nothing depends on you.

— Will there still be an Olympic Games in your lifetime?

– I will try very hard to do everything for this. The main thing is to be healthy and motivated to train,” Lysenko told .
