“With my result, I could easily win the European Championships” – Knoroz athlete after winning the BRICS Games

Pole vaulter Polina Knoroz who won gold at the BRICS Games in Kazan, said that with her result she could easily win the European Championship.

On Saturday, Knoroz won the BRICS Games in Kazan with a career-best score of 4.80 meters. Aksana Gataullina (4.55) took second place, Tatyana Kalinina (4.45) took third place. Previously, Knoroz’s best result was a jump of 4.75m.

“I am very happy, today everything worked out in my favor, as I wanted.” I really enjoyed jumping in Kazan, there is an incredible view, an incredible crowd that really excited me and believed in me more than I did. My credit can be split in half and half given to the public.

Here, I knew my competitors, I knew who jumped how many times. Therefore, we have not had any wild intrigues in the sector. And for the first time I played in the uniform of the Russian national team, so in my debut.

— Is there any aftertaste after the recent European Championships, where the winner achieved a result of 4.78 meters?

– Yes, there is sediment. I would like to do the same jump at the European Championships! I could easily win with my result, my result is higher than the European Championship gold. I could have been the winner there, but, alas, everything happened differently. The main thing is that I jumped 4.80 m, which is already good,” reports Knoroz, correspondent.

Russian track and field athletes have been suspended from international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine by decision of the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics).

The BRICS Games take place in the capital of Tatarstan from June 12 to 23.
