22-year-old Russian 10,000m walking record broken

Representative of the Chelyabinsk region Vasily Mizinov became the champion of Russia-2022 in walking 10,000 meters and set a national record, reports the press service of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF).

He showed the time – 38 minutes 14.24 seconds. The previous achievement of the country from a distance belonged to Viktor Buraev (2000) and was equal to 38 minutes 46.4 seconds. The best result in the world is the achievement of Japanese Eiki Takahashi in 2020 – 37 minutes 25.21 seconds.

“I’m kind of devastated after the start,” Mizinov was quoted as saying by the VFLA press service. – The Russian record, I wouldn’t say it was very fast before, because we don’t have 10,000 meter championships. Especially twenty. If dozens are detained, then only along the highway. And there are other results. It’s much faster there. Here I have 30 minutes on the highway. Personal profile! And the stadium is more difficult, apparently. And so, in principle, the result is expected. I assumed that if there was competition, if there was someone to go with, then we would show a good quick result.
