Verbruggen became the youngest starting goalkeeper at Euro in the last 60 years

The goalkeeper started for the Netherlands for the match with Poland

Goalkeeper Dutch national team Bart Verbruggen became youngest goalkeeper starting lineup for European Championships over the past 60 years.

The Brighton player started for Oranje in the first round match of Euro 2024 with the Polish national team. On the day of the match, Bart was 21 years and 303 days old.

Verbruggen is making his eighth appearance for the Dutch first team. In previous meetings, Bart conceded four goals and kept five clean sheets.

Let us remind you that before the match between the Netherlands and Poland, the police shot and killed a man who threatened law enforcement officers with an ax and a Molotov cocktail. The incident occurred near the Oranje fan zone.

The match between the Netherlands and Poland ends the second half. In the first half, the teams exchanged goals – Oranje responded to a precise shot from Adam Buxa with a goal from Cody Gakpo.
