Russia’s Konstantin Plokhotnikov won gold in the 3,000m steeplechase at the BRICS Games in Kazan.
Plokhotnikov covered the distance in 8 minutes 30.73 seconds. Belarusian Dmitry Ivanenko won silver in 08:38.90, Russian Nikita Kalganov was third in 08:43.20.
In the men’s decathlon, Russian Stepan Kekin won gold with 8,365 points. The second place was taken by Belarusian Maxim Andraloit – 8279, the first three were closed by another Russian Alexander Komarov – 8104. In the women’s heptathlon, the entire podium was occupied by Russian athletes. Elizaveta Slobodyanyuk won gold – 5863 points, Yulia Sokhatskaya took second – 5826, Svetlana Antoshina completed the top three – 5739.
Belarusian athlete Elvira Graborenko won gold in the 100m hurdles in 12.81 seconds. Russian Victoria Pogrebnyak won silver – 13.13, third place went to Svetlana Parakhonko – 13.15.
In the women’s high jump, the best was Russian Maria Kochanova – 1.95 meters. The second and third places were taken by Belarusian Elizaveta Valueva and Russian Polina Parfenenko with the same result, the athletes needed more attempts.
The BRICS Games in the capital of Tatarstan will end on June 23.
