Alexander does not lose heart and soon intends to resume work in the hall
Former world light heavyweight champion Alexander Gvozdyk commented on his defeat from the American David Benavidez in a fight for the vacant WBC interim title.
“Unfortunately, it didn’t work out as we wanted. It could have been done more, better, earlier, but the opponent also made adjustments. Shit happens, I keep working… Congratulations to the opposing team on their victory and successful performance. I thank my entire team for every moment we spent together. I’ll rest a little and return to the gym. Glory to Ukraine!” — Alexander wrote on his page on social networks.
Let us remind you that on the night of June 16, Benavidez inflicted the second defeat in his professional career on Gvozdyk. In the title fight, which took place in Las Vegas at the Grand Garden Arena, the American won by unanimous decision.
The 37-year-old Gvozdyk suffered his first defeat since his return to the ring in February 2023. Earlier, in 2020, the Ukrainian ended his career, but then decided to return to professional boxing. From 2016 to 2019, he held the WBC light heavyweight title. In 2012, Alexander became the bronze medalist of the Olympics.
