“The Russian Diving Federation invited the Chinese team to the BRICS Games in Kazan” – Moiseeva

The Russian diving federation invited the Chinese team to participate in the BRICS Games in Kazan, but the Chinese federation did not respond to the offer, said Russian team head coach Svetlana Moiseeva.

The diving competitions at the BRICS Games took place from June 16 to 18.

— Do you understand why the Chinese did not come to the BRICS Games in your sport?

— Our federation has repeatedly contacted the Chinese federation with a proposal to organize joint training camps and match meetings. We invited them to the BRICS Games and the Friendship Games. But unfortunately we have not received a response from the Chinese Federation, although we have contacted them several times.

We managed to come to an agreement with a sports club where diving training is provided. We went there for a training camp. There was an attempt to invite athletes from at least this club or neighboring regions to our competitions. Most likely, the fact that they did not come is due to the proximity of the Olympic Games. This may be due to WADA and IOC bans. Maybe they just hedged their bets and therefore didn’t participate here.

— How difficult was it to prepare the athletes, given that not all the strongest came here?

“Our athletes had the task of showing their best jumps. We also work for the viewer. It’s still a certain excitement, cameras around, such an atmosphere. Of course, when there are also powerful adversaries nearby, this motivates and morally strains. But our athletes showed good results. Here, no one played relaxed, everyone gave their best, ”reports the correspondent of , reports Moiseeva’s words.

The BRICS Games in the capital of Tatarstan will end on June 23.
