“It’s not time to finish yet, I like to jump.” Timoshinina about the future and bright swimsuits

But first, let’s talk about the start of the season. For example, Yulia finally managed to take a photo with a medal in her swimming pool in Moscow?

— We managed to do it at the Moscow Championship. I always take pictures with medals and then it occurred to me that I’ve never even had a picture with a medal from my home pool, so I decided to fix it. I’m happy I was able to do it,” she says.

— How did things go in the spring? Did the Eurasian Cup go well?

– Actually, it went well, I jumped better than at the Russian Cup, I felt good. Then we went to China for a training camp, changed the environment, jumped into open water, although it was very cold. But we really needed a change of scenery; we trained with the Chinese.

— The guys were jumping from high diving towers. Did you “fly” at 20 meters?

– No. It’s not very interesting to me. But we had girls who decided to do it. Intrepid. I certainly don’t like all of this yet.

— What did this collection bring to China?

– I think it was psychologically important – a different country, a different environment. In addition, we worked well on general physical preparation. I’m glad this training camp happened and we rarely train in open water. Everything was a pleasure.

— Do you remember the feeling you had when you missed home-cooked food in China?

– Yes, and it’s a sensitive subject for me. Mmm, rice! Rice every day!

– But did you bring anything experienced with you?

— As expected, all kinds of baby purees.

— Previously, you rarely stayed long in Moscow because of traveling for competitions. How do you spend this time now?

“It’s true, I’ve never stayed home this long.” Now I feel more motivated to go home with the new schedule. It’s still summer, I want to take a walk and enjoy the moment.

“Many athletes, with a schedule without international competitions, have undertaken renovations to their apartments.

– I will have to. I recently bought an apartment. All this awaits me soon.

— I saw a photo with Katya Petukhova on social networks. She ended her career so early, do you regret not having followed her example?

– No, I don’t regret it. I enjoy my jumps. My time will come, but I won’t finish yet. And Katya is fine, I am the godmother of her second son.

– I always wanted to ask… Does the fact that you are so small help you jump from a tower?

– Maybe. When you have long limbs, the extra weight is likely more difficult to move.

-How overweight are you?! Have you ever been told: “Timoshinina, eat more”?

– There is nothing superfluous, but they never said anything like that either. I try to maintain a certain weight, if I feel a little heavy I lose 1 to 1.5 kg.

– You can cut your hair. This will definitely pull a pound.

– No, I’m sorry about the hair!

— Have you watched the World Cup?

– No. To be honest, I walked away from it all. I enjoy the jumps I make. From training, from our competitions. I think I’ll watch the Olympics, but I haven’t followed the World Cup and the World Series. I know a young British girl performed well – that’s what’s showing up on social media, so I noticed. But nothing more.

— Dmitry Sautin said he doesn’t know if “anyone from the current team will become coach, maybe Timoshinin.” Do you see yourself in coaching, or are you already very tired of it all?

– Maybe I’ll try, there’s a good chance I will. I love little kids, but raising champions, going to training camps and competitions… Maybe one day I’ll miss it.

—Have you thought about trying something else?

— Thoughts crossed my mind — maybe opening a beauty salon, for example. But you have to do it, and even if you’ve been working in a field for so many years and with such a busy schedule… It’s hard.

— Many athletes create their own swimwear collections during their careers.

“It seems to me that all this is not very much in demand.”

— What color would your collection be?

– In pink, purple! Something so brilliant!

— At the same time, you jump in black!

– Well yes. But I like bright colors. Fuchsia for example. I train in brightly colored swimsuits, but during competitions I try to wear a more strict swimsuit. Usually, depending on my mood. I can wear blue for the Kremlin Cup, and something more sober for a serious start.

— Why are there no white swimsuits in diving?

– They shine. I think that’s the main problem.

— In other words, they haven’t yet found a fabric that looks good when wet.

– I think so. In fact, choosing a swimsuit is a pretty serious matter; many details must be taken into account.

— Are you ready, like a Japanese diver, to jump to the age of one hundred?

– No. I will probably want to spend more time with my family once my career is over.
