Petkov left the women’s Prometheus, Denis Zui became the new head coach of the team

The Bulgarian specialist, who remains the coach of the Ukrainian national team, moved to the French Le Cannet

Female Prometheus broke up with the head coach Ivan Petkov. Bulgarian specialist who is also a mentor Ukrainian women’s volleyball teamswitched to French Le Cannet.

The current champion of Ukraine quickly decided on a successor – Petkov’s ex-assistant Denis Zuy.

Petkov is 47 years old. He has headed Prometheus since 2020 and initially combined this work with the position of coach of the Bulgarian national team, with which he won the Euroleague Gold twice (2018, 2021). In 2022, Ivan became the head coach of the Ukrainian women’s national team.

With Prometheus, the Bulgarian won the Ukrainian championship twice in a row. Last season, his players set a new unique achievement by not losing a single set in the domestic arena during the entire championship. Also, under Petkov, women’s Prometheus played in the playoffs of the volleyball Champions League for the first time.

At the head of the Ukrainian national team, the Bulgarian coach won the Golden Euroleague 2023. In the next edition, his team performed poorly, failing to make it to the Final Four and losing its chance of getting into the Candidates’ Cup, a qualifying tournament for the Nations League. Petkov will remain at the head of the blue-yellows until at least the end of 2024, as long as his contract with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine is valid.

Le Cannet won the French Super Cup last season and reached the semi-finals in the championship, losing to Nantes.
