Russia’s Zhidkov won the 100m freestyle at the BRICS Games

Russian Roman Zhidkov won gold in the 100 meter freestyle at the BRICS Games in Kazan.

Zhidkov covered the distance in 49.19 seconds. The second was the Brazilian Victor Guimaraes (49.65), the third the Russian Nikolai Kolesnikov (49.81).

At a distance of 200 m in men’s medley swimming, Mikhail Shcherbakov won gold (2.00.97), silver – his compatriot Anatoly Gusenkov (2.01.86), bronze – Brazilian Leonardo Coelho Santos (2.02. 46). At a distance of 50 m backstroke, Russian Miron Lifintsev won (24.75), Russian Ivan Tarasov finished second (25.30) and Belarusian Viktor Staselovich finished third (25.53). Over a distance of 50 meters breaststroke, Belarusian Ilya Shimanovich finished first (27.18), Brazilian Joao Gomez Junior (27.48) and Russian Egor Bakhur third (27.83). Over a distance of 1,500m medley, Brazilian Thiago Maturana Ruffini finished first (15:16.68), Russian Egor Babinich finished second (15:26.37) and South African Chris Mikhailov finished third (15:33,16).

In the women’s 200 freestyle, Russia’s Sofia Dyakova won gold (1:58.73), Brazil’s Natalia Almeida won silver (1:59.96) and Russia’s Anastasia Saratova won bronze (2 :00.82). In the 400m medley, Russian Victoria Blinova won (4:46.46), her compatriot Daria Rogozhinova was second (4:56.88) and third was Syrian Inana Soleman (4:59.90). At a distance of 100 m backstroke, Belarusian Anastasia Shkurdai celebrated victory (1:00.57), Russian Milana Stepanova (1:02.0) finished second, Brazilian Maria Luisa finished third (1:02 .07). Belarusian Anastasia Kuleshova became first in the 50m butterfly, with a result of 26.41 seconds. Beatriz Bezerra from Brazil won silver (26.46), bronze – Russian Arina Khiteva (26.69).
