Commentator and presenter at Dmitry Guberniev named the Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova a true athlete chasing her dream.
Efimova previously told that with a result of 2 minutes 29 seconds, she could not qualify for the 2024 Olympics in the 200m breaststroke, where the qualifying time was 2 minutes 24.63 seconds. The athlete is competing in the Bahamas Championships, a qualifying event for the 2024 Olympic Games.
On Sunday, she will compete in the Olympic 100m breaststroke. Efimova, 32, is the only Russian swimmer to be granted neutral status to participate in the Games.
— I would like to wish Yulia good health, because she is an incredibly determined person and a long-time leader of Russian swimming, she is a beauty! She’s great, she’s not afraid, she moves forward in her dreams. She participated in the Olympics several times, but never managed to win gold. She tries ! And this shows that the athlete must perform well. And Yulia Efimova is a real athlete! And those who find excuses not to go because of this, that, that, open your eyes and look out the window,” Guberniev told .
The Russian competed in the 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2021 Olympic Games, where she won two silver medals and one bronze.
The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
