The Russian men’s swimming team won gold in the 4×100 meter medley relay at the BRICS Games in Kazan.
Miron Lifintsev, Kirill Savich, German Zazhirsky and Roman Zhidkov covered the distance in 3 minutes 36.13 seconds. The Belarusian team took second place (3:36.72) and the Brazilians took third (3:43.41). In the women’s 4×100 m medley relay, the Belarusian team won (4.02.68), Russians Milana Stepanova, Ralina Gilyazova, Vlada Eggi and Maria Poleshchuk (4.04.67) took second place, and the Brazilian team closed the leading trio (4.13. 97).
In the 200m freestyle, Russian Nikolai Kolesnikov (1:48.97) won gold, Brazilian Bruno Santos (1:49.98) finished second and another Russian representative, Andrey Cherepkov (1:50, 07), finished third.
Russia’s Kira Manokhina won the 100-meter freestyle (55.73), her compatriot Elizaveta Prokhorova took silver (56.02) and Brazil’s Cristina Lorraine finished third (56.41). Russian Daria Rogozhnikova won the 200-meter medley event with a time of 2 minutes 15.82 seconds. Brazil’s Natalia Siqueira Almeida was second (2:15.83), with Russia’s Victoria Mashkina third (2:15.99).
The BRICS Games in the capital of Tatarstan will end on Sunday.
