Misharina won gold in the 800m freestyle at the BRICS Games

Russian swimming champion Ksenia Misharina won gold in the 800-meter freestyle at the BRICS Games in Kazan.

The athlete covered the distance in 8 minutes 30.38 seconds. Her compatriot Arina Pantina finished second (8:48.12), Belarusian Alesya Akinchits third (8:53.24).

In the 100m butterfly, gold was won by Belarusian Anastasia Kuleshova (57.91), silver by Brazilian Beatriz Bezerra (59.41) and bronze by Russian Vlada Eggi (59.61). Over a distance of 200m backstroke, Russian Daria Zarubenkova celebrated victory (2:11.01), Belarusian Anastasia Shkurdai (2:11.82) finished second and Russian Milana Stepanova (2:14.20) the third. Belarusian Alina Zmushko took first place in the 50m breaststroke, with a result of 30.94 seconds. Russian Ralina Gilyazova finished second (31.39), Belarusian Anna Pyatrutskaya third (32.50).

In the 400m medley, Russian Yaroslav Loze finished first (4:16.69), Brazilian Alexander Stefan (4:17.55) finished second and Russian Yaroslav Sokolovsky (4:22.87) third. At a distance of 50 m butterfly, the winner was Belarusian Grigory Pekarsky (23.42), the second was his compatriot Arseniy Borzhakov (23.72), the third was Abeku Jackson from Ghana (23.87). At a distance of 100m backstroke, Miron Lifintsev won gold (53.51), his compatriot Ivan Tarasov took silver (54.42), and Belarusian Stanislav Markovsky took bronze (55.57). Belarusian Ilya Shimanovich with a result of 2 minutes 13.96 seconds became the first in the 200m breaststroke. Russian Mikhail Bykov finished second (2:14.78), Russian Roman Yachmenev (2:14.92) third.
