Olympic track and field champion Gil Roberts was disqualified for eight years for repeated violations of anti-doping rules, reports the press service of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
A doping test conducted on Roberts in September 2023 revealed several banned substances, including ostarine, which accelerates muscle growth.
Roberts has already been banned for 16 months in 2022 after testing positive for Andarine and Ostarine. He also tested positive for a banned diuretic and masking agent in 2017, but avoided suspension after successfully proving the substance entered his body when he kissed his girlfriend.
Roberts, 35, won the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 4x400m relay. The athlete also won the 2012 World Indoor Championships in the 4x100m relay.
