Chepik: “Efimova can meet the B standard, but then she will have to wait for the decision of World Aquatics”

Multiple world swimming champion Yulia Efimova may well cope with the task of fulfilling standard B, but in this case everything will depend on the decision of World Aquatics, the head coach of the Russian national team told Sergei Chepik .

Efimova will compete in the 100m breaststroke at the Bahamas Championships on June 23. This is his last chance to qualify for the Paris Games. Standard A is 1 minute 06.79 seconds – it guarantees a quota for the Olympics, standard B is 1.07.12. Having met standard B, the athlete is placed on the waiting list.

“It’s clear that it was hard for her to qualify for the 200 meters after such a flight; It’s really, really hard to get going right after being on the road for so many hours. As for the “hundred” breaststroke, it will be difficult with standard A. Standard B is, in principle, the service time for this. Then the corresponding World Aquatics procedure is started, you must wait for its decision if standard B is met. If World Aquatics is included in the list of participants, then you have to go through the IOC commission, Chepik told .
