The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) did not include the Olympic champion Yulia Stupak in the doping control group for the 2024/25 season, according to a document published on the FIS website.
In mid-April, the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) approved the list of national team candidates and the composition of training groups for the 2024/25 season. Stupak, 29, joined coach Yegor Sorin’s preliminary group. Later, the skier said that she would continue to train in self-training.
Stupak missed the 2024 Russian Championship, which took place in the Arkhangelsk region. Last season she was part of Sorin’s group and didn’t win any medals.
In total, 13 Russian skiers have entered the international doping control groups for the pre-Olympic season: Alexander Bolshunov, Savely Korostelev, Evgeny Belov, Alexey Chervotkin, Andrey Larkov, Artem Maltsev, Andrey Melnichenko, Denis Spitsov, Alexander Terentyev, Sergey Ustyugov, Ivan Yakimushkin, Gleb Retivykh, Ilya Semikov. Also on the list are 9 Russian skiers Natalya Terentyeva, Elizaveta Pantrina, Anastasia Prokofieva, Tatyana Sorina, Lidia Gorbunova, Maria Istomina, Yana Kirpichenko, Evgenia Krupitskaya and Alisa Zhambalova.
The FIS included Olympic ski jumping silver medalist Irina Avvakumova, who announced her retirement in February, in the test group.
Russian athletes have been suspended from competitions under the auspices of the FIS due to the situation in Ukraine.
