Last week, the Korea Skating Federation (KSU) suspended an unnamed national team skater for three years for violating training camp regulations. She was accused of drinking alcohol with another skater and sexually harassing a minor.

In a television interview on Thursday, Lee Hae In, 19, admitted that she had drunk alcohol and apologized for it, but stressed that she had not committed any inappropriate acts.

“He was my boyfriend when I was in high school. We broke up because of our parents’ disapproval, but we got back together during that training camp because we still had feelings for each other. ‘other,’ the skater wrote.

According to her, they wanted to keep their relationship a secret from their parents. Lee Hae In didn’t report this to KSU because she didn’t think there would be such a misunderstanding.

Lee plans to appeal the suspension to the Korean Olympic Committee (KSOC). Another skater, with whom Lee drank alcohol and who took explicit photos of herself with a young man, was suspended for a year.

Lee Hae In became the first Korean figure skater since 2013 (after Kim Young Ah) to be among the medalists at the World Championships. In 2023, she took second place at the World Championships in Saitama, Japan.
