Russian swimmer Evgeny Somov still has a chance to receive an invitation from the International Olympic Committee to the Paris Games, as World Aquatics quotas will be officially confirmed on July 3.
Somov was given neutral status by World Aquatics, but was not included in the second list of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with the admission of Russians to the Games as neutral athletes.
“I have a standard for a distance – 100 m breaststroke,” Somov told .
World Aquatics has set a deadline of July 3 to submit Olympic qualifying results. The IOC said in a statement that the list of neutral athletes admitted to the Paris Games will be expanded.
The Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11.
