Athletistic / Doping. World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) President Witold Banka said the US decision to cut its contribution to WADA is shameful. He said the move could lead to the exclusion of US representatives from WADA’s leadership.

“It would be a shame if the United States decided not to fulfill its obligations to the Americas and did not pay the already agreed share of the contribution to the WADA budget. Of course, this would lead to serious consequences, including the immediate loss of money. The United States from all the positions it currently holds in the WADA governance structure. In addition, this step could lead to serious consequences for all American sports. It would cause the greatest harm to American athletes, because the reduction in global funding would only weaken the anti-doping system in other regions of the world where American competitors are based, according to Banka TASS.

Earlier, WADA had highlighted the ineffectiveness of the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). WADA documents show that now 90% of American athletes are not subject to the World Anti-Doping Code, and of the remaining 10%, one third are not subject to regular mandatory testing.

It should be noted that Witold Banka was invited to the US Congress to attend a hearing on anti-doping before the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (France), but he refused to attend this event.
