On July 22, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will consider the Canadian Figure Skating Federation’s appeal against the redistribution of medals from the team figure skating tournament at the 2022 Beijing Games, the CAS told .
In February, the CAS announced the registration of four appeals against the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) on the redistribution of medals from the team figure skating tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games: from the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC ), the Russian figure skating organization Canadian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR), Russian figure skaters, as well as the Canadian Figure Skating Federation.
“The case will be examined on July 22,” a CAS representative told .
At the end of January, the CAS disqualified the Russian Kamila Valieva four years for an anti-doping rule violation. The figure skater’s period of ineligibility begins on December 25, 2021, and her results from that date are void. The athlete’s sample contained the banned drug trimetazidine.
The CAS decision led to a review of the results of the team figure skating tournament at the 2022 Games, where the Russian team won. First place is now awarded to the American team, the Japanese are second and the Russians will receive bronze. The Canadians took fourth place.
The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
