The Danes lost to Germany in the 1/8 finals of Euro 2024
Head coach Danish national team Kasper Hjulmann commented on the defeat in the match with Germany (0:2) in the 1/8 finals European Championship 2024.
“In recent years we have shown that we are close to the big teams, but we are missing only one thing: we need to create and take more chances. Our goal is to match the big teams. We work with teams to create the best players, and sometimes we make it to the semi-finals, sometimes we don’t. Croatia has had some great years and that’s what we want to be.”
“We came here knowing that we couldn’t give up too much possession. We involved Christian Eriksen more in the game, but we still lost a bit of attack compared to the friendlies in March. But we won in defence.”
“We will think about it and see how we can improve the team. We need to figure out how to keep the fans – they are incredible. This team has a bright future.”
The Danish national team scored early in the first half, but Joachim Andersen’s goal was canceled due to offside by Thomas Deleya, another participant in the scoring attack. Then the German team scored twice – Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala scored.
Earlier, the Swiss team reached the quarterfinals, beating the reigning European champions Italians (2:0). In the quarter finals, Germany will meet the winner of the Spain-Georgia duel.
