The Kremlin supported Tutberidze’s position that ISU rankings without Russian athletes cannot be complete

Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov supported the words of Honored Russia Coach Eteri Tutberidze that any ranking or international competition without the participation of Russian athletes cannot be complete.

She is absolutely right. If we talk about figure skating, our athletes are among the strongest in the world. And any ranking, no matter where it is compiled, any international competition, no matter where it takes place, cannot be complete without the participation of our athletes. Because the strongest don’t participate,” RIA Novosti Sport quote Peskov.

Earlier, had learned that the International Skating Union (ISU) would not support Tutberidze’s initiative regarding the current situation of world figure skating.

In the spring, the ISU suspended Russian and Belarusian figure skaters from all competitions under the auspices of the organization until further notice. On Sunday, Tutberidze said the ISU should not update rankings and play titles in the absence of the Russians.
