American track and field athlete Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone set a world record in the 400 meter hurdles during the qualifying competitions in Eugene (USA).
The 24-year-old covered the distance in 50.65 seconds in the final race and improved on his own result posted at the 2022 World Championships (50.68). Anna Cockrell was second (52.64), followed by Jasmine Jones (52.77).
McLaughlin-Levrone set his first world record in the 400m hurdles at the 2021 Olympic qualifying event. The American is a two-time Olympic champion and three-time world champion, winning the Diamond League.
