Russian figure skater who joined the Kazakhstan national team Sofia Samodelkina will make its competitive debut under a new status at the summer national championship, Tengri Sport reports.
The Kazakhstan Championship will be held in Karaganda from July 15 to 18. The figure skater will represent Astana.
“She officially received a certificate of authorization from the international federation,” noted the president of the Astana Figure Skating Federation Elmira Turganova.
Samodelkina is 17 years old, she changed her sports citizenship in 2023 and will compete for Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan’s Interior Minister Marat Akhmetzhanov said that the athlete received Kazakh citizenship in accordance with the general procedure.
Samodelkina is the winner and prizewinner of the Russian Grand Prix stages.
