“It is clear that part of the disinformation campaign against France, the IOC and its president, as well as the Olympic Games themselves, continues.

“These reports have no factual basis. The IOC President and the entire Olympic movement look forward to a great Olympic Games in Paris 2024, starting with the Opening Ceremony on 26 July,” the IOC said in a statement on social media.

In France, the first round of legislative elections took place on June 30. As a result, massive protests broke out across the country. The second round of elections is scheduled for July 7. According to opinion polls, the party of the current head of state Emmanuel Macron would lose its majority in Parliament.

The Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11. The French capital intends to host the Olympic Games for the third time.

Russian athletes are allowed to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris with a neutral status and subject to a number of criteria. This politicized decision by the IOC is linked to the events in Ukraine.
