Arsenal officially buy out goalkeeper Raya’s contract

Gunners pay Brentford £27m

Arsenal on the club’s official website announced the signing of a full-fledged contract with the goalkeeper Brentford’s David Raya. The 28-year-old Spaniard has signed a long-term deal with the Gunners.

Raya spent last season on loan at Arsenal and it was reported that the Gunners would pay £27m to sign the goalkeeper.

David managed to beat David Ramsdale to become the Gunners’ starting goalkeeper. In total, Raya played 41 matches for Arsenal in all competitions last season, keeping 20 clean sheets.

The goalkeeper’s brilliant performances allowed him to receive the Golden Glove of the Premier League for the 2023/24 season, and Arsenal itself fought for the championship title with Manchester City until the last round, but still finished second.

Raya is currently playing with the Spanish national team at Euro 2024. At the tournament, David is playing as a backup to Unai Simon, taking part in only one final match of the group stage against Albania (1:0).

Arsenal, for which Ukrainian Oleksandr Zinchenko plays, will open the 2024/25 season on August 17 with a home match against Wolverhampton as part of the opening round of the Premier League.
