The young Spaniard scored 9 goals in his debut season in La Liga
Chelsea offered to the attacker Atletico Samu Omorodionewho played last season on loan for Alavesseven-year contract.
The deal includes a salary progression from €2.5 million (plus bonuses) in the first year to a salary of €6 million for the 2030/31 season. The 20-year-old Spaniard of Nigerian origin is reportedly Blues coach Enzo Maresca’s top target for the forward position.
Omorodione was bought by Atletico Madrid from Granada in the summer of 2023 for 6 million and was immediately loaned to Alaves. The large center forward quickly made his way into the Basque club’s starting lineup, playing 35 matches during the season and scoring eight goals (with one assist). At the same time, Samu managed to score for Granada in the first round – and right into the goal of Diego Simeone’s team.
At the end of June, it was reported that the Mattress Makers, who are continuing to work on the transfer of Ukrainian Artem Dovbyk, do not intend to part with Alvaro Morata and Omorodion, believing that it is the aforementioned trio that should occupy the three forward slots for the 2024/25 season.
Earlier this summer, Chelsea signed three young players: 17-year-old Palmeiras talent Willian Estevao, 18-year-old Aston Villa striker Omari Kellyman and his peer, Barcelona forward Marc Guyu. The Blues also added 25-year-old midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester.
Atletico finished fourth in the last La Liga, Alaves finished in tenth place. Chelsea in England finished sixth under Mauricio Pochettino, and enters the new season under Maresca. The Londoners will begin the new season of the Premier League on August 18 with a home match against Manchester City.
