The two-time world champion suffered the injury less than three weeks before the start of the Paris Olympics.

French double decathlon world champion Kevin Mayer was injured less than three weeks before the start of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The 32-year-old athlete was injured while running the 110-meter hurdles at the Diamond League stage in the French capital. Mayer was leading the race, but fell shortly before the finish, feeling discomfort in the back of his left thigh. The athlete left the track independently.

The severity of Mayer’s injury and recovery time have not yet been announced.

Mayer is a two-time Olympic silver medalist and won the world championships in 2017 and 2022.

The games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11.
