Kolesnichenko and Subbotina would have won the 2022 World Cup, Romashina believes

Russian synchronized swimmers Svetlana Kolesnichenko and Varvara Subbotine who won the free program at the Friendship Games, could win World Championship gold if he is admitted to the tournament, believes the seven-time Olympic champion Svetlana Romashina .

Kolesnichenko and Subbotina won gold in the free program at the Friendship Games in Kazan with 98.7000 points.

“The girls are great, Varvara got a little sick, but it didn’t affect it, it’s a bit disappointing to realize that our team ended up without the World Cup, because with such performances we would be on the top step of the podium,” Romashina told the show “Tous pour le match!” on the channel.

Russian athletes are suspended from competitions under the auspices of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) until the end of 2022. The 2022 FINA World Championships were held in June-July in Budapest.
