Legendary American MMA fighter and now deputy of the Kurultai of the Republic of Bashkortostan Jeff Monson said that Russia, in the context of sports sanctions, should develop alternative tournaments to the Olympic Games. After the start of the SVO in Ukraine, most Russian athletes were deprived of the opportunity to participate in international competitions.
“Sooner or later, everything will fall into place. However, we can no longer sit back and do nothing, but we need to develop alternative competitions. I am convinced that many countries will support such a development. Not everyone likes to participate in pro-Western tournaments. I want to have an alternative,” Monson tells TASS.
Russian athletes are allowed to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris with a neutral status and subject to a number of criteria. This politicized decision by the IOC is linked to the events in Ukraine.
The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
