Palhinha officially joins Bayern from Fulham

The Portuguese defensive midfielder is used to playing tough – 27 yellow cards in two Premier League seasons + two warnings at Euro 2024

Bavaria officially announced the signing of a contract with the midfielder João PalhinhaThe Portuguese national team player has signed a contract until June 30, 2028.

The transfer amount has not been officially announced. It was previously reported that Fulham could get 40-45 million euros for the player. At his new club, João received the number 16 shirt.

Palhinha commented on his transfer as follows:

“This is one of the happiest days of my life. I am now playing for one of the best clubs in Europe, for me it is a dream come true and I am very proud of it.”

For the Portuguese defensive midfielder, the transfer was a birthday present – he turned 29 on July 9. Palhinha played professionally for Sporting, Moreirense, Belenenses and Braga. In 2022, he became a Fulham player. In the 2023/24 season, he played 39 matches, scored four goals, made one assist, and received 13 yellow cards. In total, he collected 27 yellow cards in the Premier League over two seasons.

As part of the Portuguese national team, João has 31 matches, two goals, and one assist. At Euro 2024, he took to the field four times and was marked by two warnings. Portugal, we recall, lost to France in the quarter-finals (0:0, 3:5 pen.).

Fulham finished 13th in the 2023/24 Premier League. Bayern finished third in the Bundesliga. Rothen enter the new season with a new coach, Belgian Vincent Kompany, who previously worked at Burnley.
