Girona officially announced the transfer of the midfielder Manchester United Donny van de BeekThe Dutchman signed a contract until the summer of 2028.
Van de Beek joined Manchester United in 2020 from Ajax for €39 million. During his time with the Red Devils, the midfielder played only 42 matches in the Premier League, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
In the winter of 2024, van de Beek moved to Eintracht on loan. The Dutchman was never able to truly become one of the club from Frankfurt, playing 8 matches in the Bundesliga without distinguishing himself in scoring.
This off-season, Girona have already signed Sparta defender Ladislav Krejci and Braga striker Abel Ruiz.
Girona finished third in La Liga last season. Artem Dovbyk and Viktor Tsygankov’s team received a direct ticket to the 2024/25 Champions League. In the first round of the new season, Girona will play Betis on August 15.
