Manchester United extend Evans’ contract until 2025

The club’s experienced youth product convinced Ten Hag of his usefulness during the previous campaign

Manchester United officially announced that the experienced defender Johnny Evans will remain at the club for another season. The parties signed a one-year contract until June 2025.

Evans is 36 years old. The Northern Irishman is a product of the Manchester United youth system. Evans played for the club from 2006 to 2015 (with breaks), winning three Premier League titles, as well as triumphing in the 2007/08 Champions League and the 2008 Club World Cup. His career also included appearances for Sunderland, West Bromwich and Leicester.

Johnny returned to his home club in the summer of 2023. The veteran did not become a stable player in Erik Ten Hag’s starting lineup, but he brought a lot of benefit – 30 matches in all tournaments, one assist.

Manchester United finished eighth in the Premier League and won the FA Cup. The Red Devils will host Fulham in the first round of the new season on August 16.
