Ukraine wins first ever gold medal at European Modern Pentathlon Championships among men

Alexander Tovkai beats Italian representative by 10 points in final standings

Ukraine won the first ever gold medal of the championship Europe By modern pentathlon Among men, the champion was Alexander Tovkai.

In the individual competition, Ukrainians Alexander Tovkai, Yuri Kovalchuk and Gordey Bereznyakov made it to the final. Tovkai’s closest pursuer was the current European champion, Italian Giorgio Malan, who in the final individual competition fell behind Alexander by ten points and finished second.

Yuri Kovalchuk took 10th place in the final standings, Gordey Bereznyakov – 15th.

In addition to gold in the individual competition, Alexander Tovkai, together with Pavel Timoshchenko, won a bronze medal in the relay.

Let us recall that Ukraine has received three licenses in modern pentathlon for the 2024 Olympic Games. Ukraine will be represented by Oleksandr Tovkai, Vladislav Chekan and Valeriya Peremykina.
