Olympic cross-country skiing champion Yulia Stupak spoke about his experience competing in triathlons, highlighting the difficulties of open water swimming due to the lack of specialized training.
On Sunday, Stupak finished 10th in the sprint of the IronStar triathlon in Yekaterinburg.
— In general, everything went as well as possible in terms of emotional context. I lost a lot in swimming, but that is also logical. My task was simply to swim this distance, because I had no training in open water, nor in cycling on the plain. The most important thing is to have fun.
I can say that the specificity of skiers’ training is that it takes place in the mountains. Guys, if you want to start a triathlon, it is better to prepare on flat terrain, it plays an important role. This is in case you want to show some kind of result, “said Stupak in a video she posted on the Telegram channel.
Stupak, 29, won gold at the 2022 Olympics in the women’s ski relay.
