Rotan’s wards continue preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games
Head coach Olympic team of Ukraine Ruslan Rotan summed up the results of the test match with Egypt (1:1) as part of the final stage of preparation for Olympic Games 2024.
“Before the game, we understood that our physical condition was not the best. In principle, we were working on our physical fitness, but the guys lacked freshness. And that is why we made simple mistakes. I think that time will pass and we will become better. We will correct some tactical mistakes. The match with Egypt should be considered a success, it gave us a lot to think about. We will definitely analyze it. The main thing is to become stronger physically.”
“We will have 18 players at the Olympic Games. This is very few. The group stage matches are played every two to three days. There are 18 players on the roster – that’s 16 field players. It will be very difficult physically. It would be better to have it like at the European Championship, but we have to accept what we have. This is the format, and I think the guys understand that
The Ukrainian national team left for France on July 7. Rotan’s team will hold their next sparring match with their peers from Paraguay on July 18.
Ukraine will play at the 2024 Olympics with Argentina, Morocco and Iraq. In the first round, Rotan’s team will meet the Asian team on July 24.
