Athletistic / Figure skating. Former Russian figure skater Sofya Samodelkina made her debut at the Kazakhstan Figure Skating Championships.
According to TASS, Samodelkina is representing Astana at the competitions held in Karaganda. The source claims that during the short program, the 17-year-old figure skater performed a double Axel, a triple flip, but fell from a triple Lutz. The free program will take place on Wednesday, July 17.
Sofia Samodelkina changed her sports citizenship in August 2023. A year ago, she indicated that she was ready to compete for another country in order to have the opportunity to participate in major international competitions.
Sofia Samodelkina is currently training at Plushenko’s Angels Academy under the guidance of two-time Olympic champion Evgeniy. The athlete is a silver medalist at the Junior Grand Prix of Slovenia and has quadruple jumps in her arsenal.
In the 2022/2023 season, Sofia won the Russian Grand Prix in Samara and also took second place at the Sochi GP stage. At the Russian Championship, Samodelkina took 11th place.
